Welcome to The Perinatal Sanctuary
Welcome to The Perinatal Sanctuary, where our mission is to provide you with a secure and confidential space, where you will feel listened to, understood, empowered and supported at every stage of your perinatal journey.
We understand that taking the first step in seeking support can feel confusing and overwhelming. Let our Clinical Psychologists guide you through the unique challenges that may arise during the perinatal period. We can help you at any stage of your journey, from fertility challenges, perinatal loss, conception, pregnancy, the postnatal period and beyond.
Whilst the perinatal period can be filled with joy, it may also bring moments of anxiety, distress, ambivalence, and fear. Identifying and expressing these challenges can be daunting. At The Perinatal Sanctuary, we are dedicated to helping you process and understand your experiences so that you can feel more in control and less overwhelmed, empowering you to live the life you want to live.
How can we help you?
We will be guided by what your goals for therapy are and what you hope to get out of meeting with us.
Our initial sessions are typically our assessment appointments, where we consider the emotional challenges that you are experiencing, your perinatal journey so far and any relevant historical information.
From these appointments we are then able to make sense of your current difficulties, enabling you to gain a greater understanding of how your previous experiences, current thoughts, feelings and behaviours may be linked.
As Clinical Psychologists we can integrate different types of therapies to best meet your needs and goals.
Some areas that we can assist with are:
- Postnatal depression and low mood.
- Antenatal and Postnatal Anxiety.
- Emotional dysregulation.
- Tokophobia (Fear of childbirth).
- Trauma, including birth trauma.
- Perinatal loss, fertility and conception challenges.
- Attachment and bonding with baby.
- Relationship changes and adapting to new roles and responsibilities.
- Identity changes.
- Birth care planning for newborn(s) arrival and planning for the postnatal period.
